Mesa Rim

Bouldering Orientation

Bouldering Orientation

Bouldering entails climbing on much shorter walls, or boulders, than rope climbing. Since there are no ropes involved, all falls are “ground falls” and therefore most climbing gyms—Mesa Rim included—have specially designed pads in their bouldering areas to minimize risk. Even though bouldering requires less gear than other climbing disciplines and no partner is required like in rope climbing, we know it can still be intimidating for many new climbers. In the Bouldering Orientation, a Mesa Rim instructor will help to familiarize you with the ins and outs of bouldering, ease your anxiety about trying it out on your own, as well as introduce you to some essential techniques to help navigate our bouldering area including how to fall properly.

Free with membership, punchcard, or day pass purchase.

No Booking Required! Simply ask the front desk for an orientation on your next visit.
