General Camp FAQs
Q: My child has never climbed before, will they have fun at this kind of camp?
A: YES! Mesa Rim isn't just a climbing gym, we are also a fantastic community that can help build self esteem and confidence, on and off the walls. Campers will find new skills they may have not known about before! There is a lot of climbing involved but they will also be doing climbing related activities (knot tying, island swing, scavenger hunt, etc.) and yoga towards the end of the day.
Q: When should I reserve my camp session?
A: We recommend, at least, 24-hour reservation to ensure space is available in the camp you are interested in. When a session is full, we can put you on a waitlist but this does not guarantee that space will open up before the session starts.
**Wait List will receive, at least, 24-hour notification if space is available**
Q: If I am only interested in a couple of days out of the amount offered, can the camp be prorated?
A: Because of the high demand for space in our camps, we ask that if you would like to ensure a spot for your camper that you sign up ASAP and pay the full price for camp.
Q: When can I drop off my camper?
A: Drop off for Full day Camp offerings is between 8:45am-9:00am
Q: When should I pick my camper up?
A: Camp pick up is between 3:00pm - 3:15pm, unless Extended Care is purchased, pricing below. Extended care runs from 3:15-5:00pm. Please make sure you give 24 hour notice of needed extended care option during Summer Camps. Seasonal camps must be OK'd by Event Coordinator.
- AM Care:
- 1-day pricing = $20
- 5-day = $85
- PM Care:
- 1-day pricing = $40
- 5-day pricing = $175
- AM & PM package:
- 1-day pricing = $50
- 5-day pricing = $250
Q: How long is a FULL Day of Camp?
A: A full day of camp runs from 9am to 3pm with about 4-ish hours dedicated climbing each day. The rest of the time is filled with fun activities, such as yoga and team building games, and a few craft projects.
Q: Can we (parents/guardians) watch the kids climb during camp?
A: YES, you are more than welcome to stay and watch! Anyone that will be in our facility must have a current waiver on file with Mesa Rim, even if they are just watching. We offer “Family Fridays” for 5-day Camp, where parents can come in and join the climbing fun.
Q: What is the ideal age for kids to participate in camp at Mesa Rim?
A: During our seasonal camps (Thanksgiving, winter break, spring break), we cater to ages 6 years and older, with smaller class sizes and more climbing technique and gear knowledge focus.
Q: Do you provide lunch? Why not?
A: We have served lunch in the past for camps but we have found that with all the dietary restrictions it would be safer for campers to pack their own lunches. Snacks will be provided (fruits, goldfish, etc.) and your camper is more than welcome to buy snacks from our ProShop (they will need to bring their own money or be allowed to charge to your membership account). We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle to fill up throughout the day.
Q: What is the ratio of instructors to climbers?
A: 4 climbers to 1 instructor for ages 4+
Q: Is gear for the climbers included?
A: Yes! We provide all the necessary gear; shoes, harness, chalk, belay devices, and yoga mats. We do ask that kids wear socks with the rental shoes. We also offer 10% off to any campers that would like to purchase their own gear in our Pro Shop before or during camp sessions!
Q: How should the climbers dress?
A: Comfortable, athletic type clothing is recommended. Please no dresses or short shorts. Camp is full of physical activities and we want all campers to be comfortable for the duration of the day.
